It Will Be "Several Days" Before Power is Fully Restored: As of Monday, August 29, approximately 130,000 Monmouth County residents remain without power as a result of damage caused by Hurricane Irene. According to Ron Morano, a spokesman for JCP&L, the utility company will be working throughout the week to restore power. Morano said it would be several days before power is fully restored. "We have had challenges created by the hurricane including getting access to certain areas because of flooding," Morano said. "There is extensive damage throughout our system." Overall, 650,000 JCP&L customers have been affected by the power outage. So far, power has been restored to 271,000 customers while JCP&L works to restore power to the remaining 379,000 customers without power.
