RUMSON – County and state law enforcement authorities have taken one individual into custody and are continuing their investigation into a bizarre incident at a West River Road bank on Tuesday.
FREEHOLD – A bookkeeper for a Red Bank marketing and advertising firm, who had pleaded guilty to defrauding her employer, last week was sentenced to a five-year prison term and ordered to make restitution.
SEA BRIGHT – According to Sea Bright Borough officials the planned resurfacing of Highway 36 north of the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge by the NJDOT, which was awarded in September, is scheduled to begin on February 28.

RED BANK – By a vote of 4-0 with one abstention on Jan. 10, members of the borough governing body agreed to accept the terms of a settlement negotiated between the borough and the Community YMCA resolving a dispute over ownership of a 51 Monmouth Street property that once served as
borough hall and police headquarters.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – The New Jersey Education Department has approved applications for 23 new charter schools to open in September, including the state's first independent school for children with autism.
MIDDLETOWN – Middletown police arrested two people on shoplifting charges last Tuesday, Jan. 11. At approximately 2:45 p.m., police received a call from the Kohls Department Store reporting a shoplifting.
MIDDLETOWN – A Keansburg woman was arrested and charged with shoplifting in connection with an incident that took place at the Sears store on Highway 35.
