Four River Street Residents Arrested On Narcotics Charges

RED BANK - Police arrested four borough residents on a variety of narcotics charges last Friday at a River Street address.

Police executed a search warrant at 155 River Street last week where officers arrested Anselmo Mejia-Sarabia, 31, Ariselda Rodriguez, 21, charging those two with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession in a school zone (Red Bank Primary School is located at 222 River St.), possession within 500 feet of a public housing complex and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, according to police spokesman Captain Darren McConnell.

Police also arrested Edward Riley, 44, charging him with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession in a school zone and possession within 500 feet of a public housing complex.

Juana Merino-Diaz, 50, who was taken into custody as well, was charged with the single count of possession of narcotic paraphernalia, according to the spokesman.

Mejia-Sarabia's bail was set at $131,000, but he was found to be wanted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Riley's bail was set at $50,000. Rodriguez and Merino-Diaz were released on their own recognizance.

The four were arrested following an investigation conducted by the department's recently re-established Anti-Crime Unit. Borough police also received assistance from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, according to McConnell.
