NJ Transit announced that
train fares will increase by 25
on May 1 while fares for
much of NJ Transit's bus
service and light rail lines will
rise by 10 percent.

feral cat population.
MIDDLETOWN - While
no specifics have been
released regarding the 2010
budget, the Middletown
Township Committee intimated
on Monday night that layoffs
were imminent in order
to bridge the estimated $4
million shortfall in revenue.
MONMOUTH BEACH - A
proposed budget for 2010 that
will increase taxes $64.90 over
2009 for the owner of a home
with an assessed valuation at
the average level of $590,000
has been introduced by the
Board of Commissioners.
Shrewsbury -
The Borough Council has
inched a little closer to
authorizing a hunt to cull out
some of the pesky deer in
town that munch on gardens,
cause auto accidents
and soil the landscape with
their droppings.
SEA BRIGHT - To accompany
the recently adopted
residential permit parking
ordinance adopted last
month, the Sea Bright Mayor
and Council adopted a business
parking permit program
on Tuesday.
FAIR HAVEN - The
Republican hopefuls for
Congress in the 12th District
squared off against one
another at a candidates forum
last week with Scott Sipprelle
assailing the big spending in
Washington that has driven
the nation deep into debt and
David Corsi taking a bead on
taxes and calling for change.

Highlands Mayor Anna C.
Little, who are competing for
the Republican nomination for
Congress in the 6th District,
presented themselves as the
best candidate to defeat incumbent
Democratic Congressman
Frank Pallone Jr. in a
GOP forum last week.
