AH Police Charge Two With Heroin Possession, Use
ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS - Borough Police Chief Jerry Vasto reported the arrest of two suspects who were apprehended on First Avenue near the entrance to Bayshore Plaza for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Det. Sgt. Thomas Stone arrested Mark Bell, 25, Tinton Falls, at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. He was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be heroin as well as possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic syringe and drug paraphernalia.
According to police, Bell and Christopher McKnight, 22, of Lincroft, had been observed in the parking lot of the shopping center allegedly using heroin. They drove out of the parking lot onto State Highway 36 as officers arrived in the area and were stopped on First Ave.
McKnight was also arrested for possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic syringe, being under the influence of heroin as well as for outstanding warrants from Middletown and Sayreville.
Staff Sgt. Richard Knochel of the NJ State Police, along with Atlantic Highlands Patrol officers Brian Phair Stephen Vogt assisted in the investigation. Bell was transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank after being charged, while McKnight was transported to Middletown Township Police Headquarters in lieu of bail he could not post on the outstanding warrant.
