A.H. Police Arrest Man Carrying Loaded Rifle
ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS - Curtis Glisson, 28, was arrested on August 28, for possession of a loaded rifle and other charges.
Police Chief Jerry Vasto reported that Patrolmen Alfred Conover and Christopher Inglis responded to the area of Grand and Simpson Avenues at 9 p.m., looking for a supicious male possibly carrying a gun. Glisson, was wearing camouflage pants and shirt, a green watchman's wool cap, carrying a backpack and two large black flashlights. He also appeared to be hiding something behind his right leg, which turned out to be a long rifle.
Glisson was arrested and transported to police headquarters. The weapon was a Remington model #522 Viper Long Rifle, loaded with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine. The backpack contained a clown mask, described by Glisson as a "Captain Spalding Balding" mask, a silver crank-powered flashlight, a portable shovel, compass, binoculars, black gloves and a large camouflage blanket.
Glisson was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded rifle and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $10,000 without a ten percent option. Unable to post bail, Glisson is currently held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
