RB Launches New Web Site, Emergency Notification System

RED BANK - Councilwoman Kathy Horgan recently announced that the Borough of Red Bank has launched a Citizen Communication Center, or "C3," that features a new and improved municipal Web site as well as a cutting edge emergency notification system. The C3 is an Internet-based software that has the potential to improve and streamline borough services in addition to creating a robust citizen-driven network. This initiative comes as part of the borough's ongoing commitment to improve communication and services offered to the residents of Red Bank.

"The new Web site is the result of many hours of hard work and team collaboration," said Horgan via a press release. The councilwoman chairs the Education and Technology Committee that spearheaded the project. "I'd like to thank committee members Councilwoman Juanita Lewis and Councilman Ed Zipprich, as well as Borough Administrator Stanley Sickels, CFO Frank Mason, and Public Works Director Gary Watson. Special thanks go to two Red Bank residents who graciously volunteered their time on this project, Vince Light and Boris Kofman. Their combined IT knowledge and expertise were invaluable."

The C3 Internet-based software enables residents who register online through the Web site to receive emergency notifications via e-mail, cell phone, text message or home phone.

Individuals will be able to customize the alerts to receive not only immediate health and safety threats but also less urgent notices such as school closings, stopped trains or road construction. Residents can also ask that another individual, such as a friend or loved one, be notified in the event of an emergency.

In addition to voice and typed messages, borough officials will be able to send photo, audio and video files to residents as supplements to the emergency notifications. The program includes mapping technology that will enable notifications to be sent to only affected neighborhoods when appropriate. Registered residents will also be able to submit online municipal service requests, such as street light and and/or road repairs, which will be routed to the appropriate department for follow-up.

The municipal Web site can be viewed at www.redbanknj.org. All citizens are encouraged to register to be a part of the emergency notification system and to take advantage of other beneficial services offered by this new program.
