Highlands Clamfest Features Food, Fun and Contests

The Highlands Business Partnership's 15th Annual Clamfest opens Thursday, August 6 at Huddy Park on Bay & Waterwitch Avenues. The four-day event features fresh seafood, live entertainment, thrill rides, games, contests, a wine garden and more.

Admission is free, and the event takes place rain or shine.

Festival goers can compete in the Baby Costume Contest, Clam Shucking and an All-You-Can-Eat Clam Eating Contests.

New for 2009 is a wine garden with wines provided by the Holly Crest Winery. There will be presentations Jim Filip, owner of Doris and Ed's restaurant on Friday.

Portions of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues will be closed to street traffic to accommodate the specialty vendors marketplace and the food court with many Highland's restaurants such as Bahrs, Beacon on the Bay, Chilangos, Clam Hut, Francesco's, Lusty Lobster, and Moby's.

Thursday night is "Family Bracelet Night" from 6 to 11 p.m. The festival is open Friday 6 - 11 p.m., Saturday 12 -11 p.m. and Sunday 12 - 8 p.m. For more information and a complete schedule call (732) 291-4713 or visit www.highlandsnj.com.
