Burglars Hit Rumson

Rumson - A recent rash of residential burglaries has Rumson Police Chief Richard Tobias warning residents to report anything suspicious.

For approximately three weeks the Borough has experienced several daytime residential burglaries, each different in character according to Tobias.

Tobias said there are simple steps residents can take to prevent their cars or homes from being burglarized.

"I would like to remind the residents to always lock your cars each and every time you get out, don't leave money or anything of value in your cars, lock you homes, both windows and doors, and to call the police immediately to report anything you consider suspicious," Tobias said. "If you see anything suspicious, don't hesitate to call," Tobias added. "We want our residents to be alert. They are our best eyes."

Tobias did not elaborate on the details of the burglaries because it is an ongoing investigation. The phone number for the Rumson Police Department is (732) 842-0500.
