Red Bank Police Investigating Shrewsbury Avenue Armed Robbery

RED BANK - Borough police are investigating an armed robbery of two borough men that occurred on Shrewsbury Avenue early last Wednesday.

The two borough residents, who are ages 21 and 17, told police that they were walking on Shrewsbury Avenue between River and Bank streets at about 12:21 a.m. on May 20, when they were approached from behind by two unidentified men who jabbed guns in their backs.

The two perpetrators took cash and a cell phone from one of the victims and then fled on foot to a waiting, cream-colored, four-door sedan.

The two suspects were last seen heading south in the car, accompanied by a female driver and another passenger, police said.

The victims identified the two assailants as black men, one between 20-22-years-old, with a thin build and dark complexion. That suspect was wearing his hair in cornrow braids and wore a thin beard along his chin line. When last seen last week, he was wearing a red and black baseball cap, black shirt, light blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

The second assailant was described as having a medium complexion, as being approximately 19-years-old, six feet tall with a thin build, a small, thin beard and close-cropped hair and wearing a black T-shirt.

Police are asking anyone with any information to contact the department's detective division at (732) 530-2719. Information can be given anonymously by calling the police tip-line at (732) 450-9704.
