RB Police Seek Suspects Wanted For Armed Robbery
By John Burton
RED BANK - Police are searching for two suspects in connection with an armed robbery at a Front Street convenience store on Sunday afternoon.
According to Lieutenant Eliot Ramos, a police spokesman, authorities are looking for two men who allegedly robbed the Welsh Farms convenience store, 110 East Front Street, earlier this week.
The two men allegedly entered the store separately a little before 5 p.m. and then one of the men took out a handgun and pointed it at the head of the store clerk and demanded money, the clerk told police when they arrived at the store.
The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was then told to collect the money from the store's lottery machine and surrender it.
The clerk gave the second suspect the lottery proceeds, an undisclosed amount, as well. The second suspect did not appear to have a gun, the clerk told police, according to Ramos.
The two suspects fled the store on foot, traveling west on East Front Street, according to Ramos.
The first suspect, the one allegedly carrying the weapon, was described as a short, black male, dark skinned with a thin build appearing to be between 22-28-yearls-old, and wearing black sunglasses and dark clothing. The other suspect was described as a black male, but taller and heavier, and was about 30-years-old. He was thought to be wearing a black jacket, possibly fleece with a hood, according to police.
