RB Police Interrupt Burglary In Progress, Suspect Arrested
RED BANK - On October 07, 2008 at 12:50 pm, the Red Bank Police were detailed to 85 Bank St for a report of a burglary in progress. The initial responding officers, Ptl. Dawn Shields, Sgt. Eliot Ramos and Inv. Juan Sardo arrived at the residence where they went immediately to the rear of the residence and discovered the actor exiting the rear door and running to a wooded area in the rear yard. The accused was wearing gloves at the time of his arrest.
During the course of this investigation the above-mentioned subject was seen knocking on the front door of 85 Bank St, and then going to the rear of 85 Bank St. The accused then grabbed a small white bench which he then placed under a side window and was then seen opening the window and entering the residence. The accused entered the residence and began looking through dresser drawers in an attempt to locate any valuables but was startled when he heard the arrival of the above police officers.
The investigation was followed up by Inv. Juan Sardo, which led to the accused being charged with Burglary, Attempted Theft and Possession of Burglary Tools. Christopher Melendez was held on $51,000.00 bail.
