RB Police Arrest Man For Assaulting Women With Utility Knife
RED BANK - Borough police have arrested an 18-year- old man in connection with three alleged assaults that took place in the borough early last Sunday morning.
On September 28, 2008 at 02:28 am, the Red Bank Police were summoned to the area of the parking lot located in the area of Monmouth St. and Drummond Pl. following a report that a woman had been assaulted in that area.
The 23-year-old victim reported that she who was talking on a cell phone in the parking lot when she was approached by a Latino male who then assaulted her by choking her. The woman was able to fight the alleged assailant off and he then fled the area.
The victim was transported to the Riverview Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
Less than an hour later, at 03:12 a.m., borough police were summoned to the area of 150 Monmouth St for a report of a female subject who had been assaulted. The victim a 20-year-old female who was in front of 150 Monmouth St, told police that she was approached by a Latino male who then assaulted her by cutting her with a utility knife. The woman was able to break away from the alleged assailant, who then fled the area. The victim was then transported to the Riverview Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and released Less than 20 minutes later, at 3:30 a.m., police reported, Ptl.. Paul Perez was in the area of Oakland St. and Pearl St. while investigating the prior two assaults when he observed a Latino male assaulting a female in that area. Perez confronted the alleged assailant, who then fled the area. Additional patrol units were dispatched and the suspect was then apprehended in the area of Chestnut St. and Pearl St. The victim of the alleged assault, a 23-year-old female, received a minor injury to her hand, which did not require any medical attention. A utility knife was recovered.
Based on a follow up investigation conducted by Sgt. Eliot Ramos, the alleged assailant, Hector Plazas-Sanchez, was charged with one count of Kidnapping, three counts of Attempted Robbery two counts of Aggravated Assault, one count of Simple Assault two counts of Possession of a weapon and two counts of Unlawful possession of a weapon. Bail was set by Hon. Anthony Mellaci in the amount of $581,000.
