Bargains Galore At Red Bank's Townwide Yard Sale
RED BANK - Hip Town becomes "bargain city" on Saturday, Sept. 20, when residents take to their lawns and driveways to host the borough's first-ever Townwide Yard Sale.
Bargain-hunters from all over New Jersey are expected to fill the streets in search of overlooked treasures at dozens of locations throughout the borough.
Organizer Audrey Oldoerp say the goal of the event is to encourage the recycling and 'repurposing' of household goods and clothing that might otherwise end up in landfills.
"Red Bank's antiques market is proof that this kind of old-fashioned re-use of goods not only works economically, but never really goes out of fashion," says Oldoerp. "With the Townwide Yard Sale, we hope to help give new useful life to everything from infantwear to furnishings to you-name-it."
In addition, she says, the event is expected to create a festive atmosphere of "mingling and good-natured haggling" in a town well-known for its shopping, dining and entertainment offerings.
The sale will be held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Complete details for shoppers and sellers, including the addresses of participating homes and special items offered for sale, are available at the Red Bank Department of Public Works office, 75 Chestnut Street, (732) 530-2770.
