Officials Make Arrest In June 4 Bank Of America Robbery

RED BANK - Each year Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey awards scholarships to New Jersey high school students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Nursing. The scholarships were awarded to three local area students during this year's VNACJ Nurses' Day ceremonies held at PNC Arts Center in Holmdel.
MIDDLETOWN - Law enforcement authorities last week arrested an Eatontown man they say perpetrated a bank robbery in the township last year.
On Monday, authorities arrested Glen Greenfield, 45, in Pennsylvania and charged him with being a fugitive from New Jersey and with other crimes. According to authorities, last June 4, a little before noon, Greenfield entered the Bank of America branch, 74 Highway 35 South, where he allegedly went to the counter and gave the teller a handwritten note demanding an undisclosed amount of money, and then fleeing the bank after getting the proceeds.
An investigation conducted by the FBI, the prosecutor's office, township police and officers from the Pocono Mountain, Pa., Regional Police Department led to Greenfield's apprehension in Long Pond, located just west of Camelback Mountain, in Pennsylvania's Monroe County, according to the prosecutor's office. Greenfield was also charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree theft.
When he was taken into custody, authorities alleged Greenfield had 13 bags of heroin and was charged under Pennsylvania law with the aggravated misdemeanor offense of possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.
Greenfield is currently being held at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, in Snydersville, on the charges. He was scheduled to appear in the local district court on Thursday for a waiver of extradition hearing. The Pennsylvania court set Greenfield's bail at $50,000 for the drug charge.
For the second degree and third degree charges alone, Greenfield, if convicted, could face up to 10 years in prison for each of the offenses, according to the prosecutor's office.
